General questions

Q: What do you need from me to carry out the picture?
A: All I need is the basic outline idea for the picture and a good quality recent photo of the person or people that are in the picture. Email me the details and we can progress from there.
Q: What media should I use for the picture?
A: I can produce artwork in pencil, watercolour paint, pen and ink, on computer (using adobe photoshop and illustrator). The choice is yours. View my artwork.
Q: Do you charge for sending me a quote?
A: No. All quotes are free.
Q: Do you frame the pictures?
A: Unfortunately not, although if you want to get the picture framed I use a professional framer who's based in Northampton. The address is:- 177 Gallery, 144 Abington Avenue, Northampton, NN1 4PD. Tel 01604 627550
Q: I'm not from the UK, can I still have a picture done?
A: Yes. I've done artwork for clients in America, Australia, Canada. P&P is slightly more for outside the UK.

Rough "mock-up" artwork

Q: Do you send a rough copy of the artwork so I can see it before the final version is done?
A: Yes, I draw a rough "mock up" of the artwork in pencil and send it via email so you can view it and make any adjustments before I start the final version. Sometimes though if the deadline is extremely tight I might not have time to produce a "mock up".
Q: How many adjustments can I make to the rough "mock-up"?
A: As many as you want, although please don't take the mickey and request hundreds, most people make a couple of slight changes to the rough. It mainly depends on how complex the picture is so it can vary. I try my best to get it right first time. If I've started inking up or painting the artwork and you require more changes the final price will be more.

Picture sizes

Q: What size picture should I use?
A: The picture size is up to you really. If you want a "busy" and detailed picture with lots going on then A3 is a good size, sometimes A4 is too small. I can produce artwork up to A2 size, this is mainly for paintings. Artwork produced on computer can be any size you want (if it's being printed at a professional printers, I can print upto A3.)
Q: What page sizes are there?
A: Page sizes are as follows:- A5-210mm x 148mm A4-297 x 210mm
A3-420mm x 297mm A2-594 x 420mm A1-841 x 594mm
I can only go upto A2 size for complete watercolour paintings (you can have watercolour images bigger than A2 although it will require piecing the artwork together on computer)

Electronic copies/delivery

Q: Do you send electronic copies of the artwork to clients?
A: Yes, if you would like your artwork sent via email this isn't a problem because I scan all artwork to appear on my website anyway. File formats can be pdf, jpeg, psd (adobe photoshop), ai (adobe illustrator), or gif. If you have a tight deadline I can send you the artwork so it gets to you even sooner as postal delivery can take a day or two.
Q: How is the artwork sent?
A: All A5-A3 size artwork is packaged in a strong hard back cardboard envelope (which is packed with another piece of card for extra protection) and sent using royal mail special delivery. Anything bigger than A3 will be rolled and put in a cardboard tube.
Q: What if the artwork arrives late?
A: I try and send off the artwork as soon as possible when its completed so you recieve it before the deadline. If its been sent by special delivery and arrives late unfortunately this is out of my control. Every effort is made on my part to get the artwork to you asap.
Q: What if the artwork is damaged?
A: If the artwork is damaged in any way this will be due to it being damaged in delivery, unfortunately this is out of my control as I try and package the artwork as best as I can.
Q: Can I collect the artwork?
A: Yes, most people who live in Northamptonshire/midlands area collect the artwork, this will save you some money on P&P. Most people come and collect large size artwork (i.e. A2 size). My address is on the contact page.

Q: Do you do printed copies of the artwork?
A: Yes. I can print full colour copies of the artwork up to A3 size (although there is a small white boarder around the edge of the print). All prints are produced on matte heavyweight paper.
Q: How many prints can I have?
